About Physio-Led Pilates
My name is Marie Pell and as a busy working mum of three, I really believe in promoting health and movement so that you can give your best to those around you. We often lead busy lives investing in the here and now, forgetting how to prevent a decline in health later on. Every day I see injuries that could have been prevented or managed better. It therefore makes me so happy to be able to run pilates classes that give me the time to guide you towards feeling stronger and less vulnerable to injury. Consistency of exercise really does improve your movement ,and this will not only enhance your own life and what you can achieve, but also the lives of those around you. I understand that there can be many barriers to doing something for yourself and for your own body, but by setting aside this time to move, you are investing in being able to do and give what is most important to you. In Physio-Led Pilates, every class is shaped by deep clinical knowledge and a genuine interest in the people we work with. I look forward to guiding you towards improved strength, mobility and confidence, with plenty of smiles along the way!
I qualified as a physiotherapist from Oxford Brookes University in 2011 and I was drawn to the profession through the avenue of professional dance. Straight after qualifying in 2011, I began my journey as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist working for a number of private clinics across London including Canary Wharf and Crystal Palace Sports Injury Centre. Following my degree, I quickly completed pilates matwork training through APPI, as it was the perfect adjunct to my clinical practice. I learnt how pilates can be used to diagnose imbalances in the body and the contributions that these imbalances can have on predisposing patients to injury. Upon qualifying, I also completed an ITEC diploma in sports massage and further qualifications in acupuncture becoming a member of the AACP. Following my work in various clinics and sports settings, I then went on to work within orthopaedics in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. With this varied experience, I set up pilates classes for patient based populations alongside the 1:1 pilates work that I had already been using for patient rehabilitation. I now currently work as a highly specialised physiotherapist and I love helping and motivating clients towards reaching their goals.
